Saleen Announces 2006 Speedster and Scenic Roof Models

The Cool Tops line begins with the 2006 S281 coupe, with the new, sleek Saleen Scenic Roof. Surrounding all the vehicle’s passengers, the Scenic Roof gracefully extends from the front windshield to the back window. The Scenic Roof captures nature’s unsurpassed beauty by protecting its passengers from the weather’s elements, all while allowing them to experience the seasons in full bloom.

The spectacular Scenic Roof captures sunrise to starlight views while eliminating howling winds that are often created by standard moon-roofs. And, because the Scenic Roof is engineered as part of the car, it remains stationary and never moves up and down like conventional convertibles. The glass itself is laminate safety glass with UV ray protection. The Scenic Roof is sure to provide a unique driving experience that is
unmatched by previous innovations, and will be in production by January 2006.

For those who still love the wind through their hair, the latest Saleen offering is the 2006 Saleen Speedster, which offers a beautifully designed tonneau for ease of use in addition to the sport bar. Painted in matching Saleen colors, the sport bar and the tonneau offers a complimentary design to the already aggressive Saleen styling. The S281 Speedster will be available by November 2005.

When eight students from Washtenaw Community College (WCC) in Ann Arbor, Mich., returned to school this fall, their response to the question, “How did you spend your summer vacation?” was unlike that of any other student on campus. Possibly the most important press release of SEMA?

I found this while bit while visiting our friends at AutomotivePhoto.com and couldn’t resist posting it up here too. This press release addresses a problem that has plagued man for quite some time. We hope you are as excited as we are.

Greetings from WD-40 Company, where we’re packing our bags and heading to Vegas for AAIW 2005.

We’re writing because want you to be the first to know that we’re using SEMA to launch the brand new WD-40 Smart Straw to the automotive industry. The WD-40 Smart Straw contains the original WD-40 formula you’ve come to know and love, and comes with a permanently attached straw - ensuring consumers will never lose the “little red straw” again.

A revolutionary packaging design, the WD-40 Smart Straw comes in a 12-ounce can and sprays two ways: as a stream through the permanently attached straw for hard-to-reach jobs or when the straw is folded down, via the wide-area sprayer to cover larger surface areas.

We’d love to meet with you while you’re at SEMA to hand you a sample of the WD-40 Smart Straw and chat briefly about the story behind its development, how it makes WD-40 easier to use for automotive enthusiasts and professionals, and WD-40 Company’s other activities in the automotive arena.

Please reply when you can with a few interview times that work for you and we’ll coordinate an interview either at our booth (#5500 at AAPEX; #12978 at SEMA), or at another location. I will follow-up with you shortly to determine your interest.

GM’s 2005 SEMA Showcase Proves Great Things Are Still Found In Smaller Packages

Pontiac Solstice Club Racer Concept for SEMA

Las Vegas - GM’s small-vehicle lineup will make a big impact at this year’s Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show, proving that with the right combination of technology, great products and accessories, it’s possible to pack performance, style and fuel economy into one exciting package.

Among the 25 smaller vehicles taking center stage at SEMA are customized versions of Chevrolet’s new hit HHR and Cobalt; the new Pontiac Solstice and G6; the Saturn Ion and upcoming Sky; and the new, smaller HUMMER H3. These fuel-efficient vehicles are the perfect canvas for customizers who’d rather spend their money on a killer audio system than at the pump. And they also can be very well-equipped for the customer who wants to make a statement without the work.

Available only in strictly limited numbers, the Corolla Compressor uses the same 1,794cc VVTL-i four-cylinder engine as the T Sport, but with a supercharger added to boost output from 189 to 215bhp (217 DIN hp) and technical adjustments to meet Euro IV emissions standards. That helps knock one-and-a-half seconds off the car’s 0-62mph acceleration time, down to 6.9 seconds, and adds 3mph to the top speed, now 143mph.
