We scarcely had time to soak up the new models at Audi’s display (the Q7, unveiled in Frankfurt, the S8, unveiled in Tokyo, and the RS4, unveiled in Geneva) before we were greeted with Detroit’s exclusive unveilings, the all-new S6 followed by the Roadjet Concept. The S6 is powered by a slightly detuned version (at a still healthy 420 horsepower) of the S8’s V-10 powerplant, itself a derivative of the Lamborghini Gallardo’s 492 horsepower V-10. The Roadjet Concept could purportedly bridge the gap between the compact A4 sedan and the midsize A6, sharing a resemblance to the A3 in overall shape and layout. Whether or not this actually happens, I think the Roadjet serves more as an indication of the near-future evolution of Audi’s current fleet of designs. It’s easily recognizable as an Audi, and major design elements such as the trapezoid grille, lower fascia, and beltline body crease already exist on current production cars.
