February 9, 2006 — Robby Gordon, driving his Toyo Tires/Hummer/Jim Beam race truck, scored First Place in the competitive Trick Truck class of the Blue Water Resort and Casino Parker 425 in Parker, Arizona. Gordon’s win is especially sweet as he piloted the same Robby Gordon Racing Hummer H3 that recently competed in the grueling Dakar™ in Europe and Africa.
Gordon’s victory is the first time a Hummer H3 has won in Trick Truck and is the first time the truck has raced in North America. It also demonstrates the capabilities of his potent racer which is shod with Toyo’s 37 x 14.50R15 Open Country M/T™ tires. Gordon chose Toyo’s Open Country M/T™ tires over other brands in his own independent test near the end of last season. He feels the Open Country M/T™ provides excellent grip in sand and rocks, and has proven exceptionally durable in hostile terrain.
In addition to Gordon’s Trick Truck class win, series newcomer Steve Hengeveld drove his Fabtech / Toyo Tires® Ford F-150 to Third Place in the Trick Truck class. This was his first time competing in a truck, as he is best known for his racing success on motorcycles.
According to Travis Roffler, Senior Director of Marketing, Toyo Tire (U.S.A.) Corporation, “This was a great event for Toyo’s Open Country M/T™. Robby Gordon once again proved his determination and skill, taking his Hummer H3 straight from Dakar to this win in Parker. We are also excited to see Hengeveld score a solid third in his debut in a truck. Scoring two-out-of-three is a great victory for Toyo.” For more information on the durable Open Country M/T™ which is available for your lifted truck, log on to toyo.com.
