A host of new models from Mercedes-Benz will be making their world debut at the 76th Geneva International Motor Show. They include the exclusive high-performance models CLS 63 AMG and CLK 63 AMG (the latter in Coupé and Cabriolet versions), whose bullish eight-cylinder engines and sophisticated suspension technology make for a gripping driving experience. Also meeting the public for the first time is the newly facelifted SL-Class and its AMG versions, the SL 55 AMG and SL 65 AMG. For the new GL-Class, Geneva will mark not only a European debut but also, for the state-of-the-art GL 320 CDI and GL 420 CDI diesel models, an international premiere.

To celebrate winning the 2005 FIA GT Manufacturers’ Cup, Maserati has launched a new limited edition model of the Maserati GranSport.
The Maserati GranSport MC Victory will be officially launched at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show, and will be on the market from May, with only 180 uniquely numbered units produced.
As well as boasting finer standard equipment than the Maserati GranSport from which it derives, the new Maserati GranSport MC Victory offers a variety of new features that clearly link it to the Maserati MC12, celebrating its driving dynamics.
Externally, the Maserati GranSport MC Victory is immediately recognizable for its aerodynamic, blue carbon front and rear spoilers and for the Italian flag embedded in the side panels, another feature taken from the MC12.

Those of us in Texas love all things big. As evidence, I present you with the following trivia. The King Ranch in Kingsville is bigger than the entire state of Rhode Island. Dallas/Ft. Worth Airport is home to the nation’s largest parking lot. Fort Sam Houston is home to more historical buildings than Colonial Williamsburg. Texas is home to three of the top ten biggest cities in the nation. The Port of Houston handles more foreign cargo than any other port in the nation. If Texas was its own independent nation, it would rank as the world’s fifth largest petroleum-producing country. You can buy a 4.5 pound steak at the Big Texan Steak Ranch in Amarillo…they’ll even give it to you free if you can finish it. And to sum up the sheer size of this state: El Paso, TX is closer to Needles, CA than it is to Dallas, TX. It’s pretty clear that the old saying “Everything is bigger in Texas” is fairly true. ATLANTA, Feb. 13, 2006 – Porsche today revealed the first official images and information on the new 2007 911 Turbo. The sixth generation of the range-topping 911 model features a revolutionary 480-hp, twin-turbocharged, 3.6-liter boxer engine with the world’s first gasoline-engine application of variable turbine geometry (VTG), a redesigned all-wheel-drive system, and evolutionary styling.
The new 911 Turbo’s engine produces 480 hp at 6,000 rpm, 60 hp more than its predecessor, raising specific output of the 3.6-liter boxer-Six to an all-time high of 133 hp per liter. More notable is the engine’s torque curve, which has been bolstered and broadened by the variable turbine geometry system. Peak torque rises to 457 lb-ft (previously 415 lb-ft), but that peak now spans an extended rpm range from 1,950 to 5,000 rpm, compared to 2,700–4,600 rpm in the previous 911 Turbo. Additionally, a function in the optional Sport Chrono Package allows a 10-second, mid-rpm-range ‘overboost’, temporarily increasing turbo boost under full throttle by 2.9 psi, and swelling peak torque to 502 lb-ft. When BMW introduced the E39 M5 at the 1998 Geneva Motor Show, it took the breath from automotive enthusiasts everywhere. The M5 was the perfect combination of muscular looks, incredible handling, vicious power…all packaged within the practicality of a sedan. With 400 horsepower (394hp depending who you ask) at the driver’s disposal, the M5 quickly became a legend – with little competition from other European manufacturers. That is, until Jaguar introduced the S-Type R in 2003. The S-Type R looked like, at least on paper, to be a direct competitor for the E39 M5. Like the M5, the Jaguar S-Type R was a mid-size sport sedan based on an already established model, and also benefited from a very powerful V-8 engine. Both carried sticker prices over $60k, and both appeared to be targeting the same demographic: people who wanted an extremely sports-oriented luxury sedan. In 2003, the S-Type R was a bargain at $62,400 compared to the M5’s hefty price tag of $70,545. Continue reading Dubspeed Driven Full Road Test – The 2006 Jaguar S-Type R
