It took 5 long days, hundreds of miles and more caffeine than one wants to admit to, but after days of watching a commercial photo shoot from afar, our photographer finally got a chance to photograph the all-new 2007 Chevrolet Silverado as it sprinted out of a car carrier and ran through a car wash. The camera-ready Crew-Cab was decked out in the Z71 off-road package, and wearing brochure-red paint.
Riding on the GMT900 platform, the Silverado’s introduction comes after that of the full-size SUVs, and up until this moment – has been very well hidden behind miles of black vinyl. Although this was originally scheduled to arrive as a 2008 model, Chevrolet has been working at a fast pace and the Silverado will likely debut this fall, with production starting as early as October. And, as one can clearly see, this is no Tahoe clone, but a unique look including stacked headlamps, which separate the trucks from the SUVs.
We’re a bit surprised that the Silverado doesn’t have some of the signature styling from the 2003 Cheyenne Concept – such as the wraparound glass at the back of the cab, yet we think consumers will be pleasantly surprised with both the styling and car-like refinement that the Silverado is said to have. And, equipment-wise, this Silverado is equipped with a roof-rack and back-up sensors.

That will be interesting, however I think GM will win again. WHY are they comparing a 1/2 ton with 3/4 ton trucks? Odd. But I guess since it is for TOTY it dosent matter. It has to be a new model for this year.
With all of the problems Toy has had and the small number sold I imagine GM will be truck of the year again.

I didn’t mean that in a good way. What I meant was that even though the GM truck is more expensive, it still sells more than the Dodge. However, some dealerships like Champion Chevrolet sometimes advertise $10,000 off MSRP, but that is for all Champion Dealers, Chevy, Ford, Dodge, Toyota, etc.

Oh, and GM trucks have better resale value than any other truck out there, Bill. Dodge has one of the worst resale values.
Justin.. Year end (August-October) we will do some pretty aggresive advertising and discounts. When we need to unload product. NEVER in December when all of the 07’s are gone. We get premium prices in Decemeber/January/Feburary at that is when we make the profits. We do not need to offer huge incentives this early in the model year to move product.
When you are advertising $5500 in rebates and 0% on 08 models you are simply desperate. It is easy to see the differences in marketing stratagy. When you sell less then half of what the competitors are you give away the farm ( I.E. Dodge/Toyota) and hope like hell you can sell half as many as the superior product… .
When you dominate the market you do not have to lose money to sell a truck. Very simple math.
Very VERY glad I work at GM right now. I would hate to be a chrysler employee wondering if I will have a job in a year. Or even an owner. Who will warranty the product when they are gone?
Resale value at dodge, while the absolute WORST in the industry is the very least of their problems. Building JUNK and giving it away to get it off the lots is what is killing dodge. AND Cerebrus is not looking to fix anything. They are looking for an exit stratagy. Read the current Car and Driver for more information on exactly that subject.

How do you figure the resale is better for gm? Check it out yourself. Take a Dodge for what mikey says is $13,000 dollars off msrp plus incentives. Now take a gm which is only $1000.00 off msrp. Put 75,000 miles on them and trade them in. The gm is worth less than $1,000 more than the Dodge. So if you bought the Dodge you just saved over $12,000. Im not a math major, but it sure looks to me the Dodge holds its value a hell of a lot better.
I wouldn’t put too much value in what mikey has to say. He has been claiming for over a year Ford was going out of business. Funny part is gm was the only one on the brink of bankruptcy.

Okay bildo. if you don’t believe this than you are living in a dillusion that I can’t even conceive of right now. Here are 2 official trade in appraisals that I did at Kelly Blue Book. Both trucks are 07 models, both are crew cabs with short beds, the silverado has the 5.3 and the ram has the 5.7 hemi. I did not choose any extra options for either truck, so the ones you see are standard for that model. Both also have the same mileage, 5000 miles, and are both in excellent condition. Notice that the silverado’s trade in value is about $5000 more than the dodge ram.

Hey, on a second note, do you guys ever notice that Chrysler vehicles are ALMOST always used in movies when a car needs to be destroyed? They’re also in low budget T.V. shows. I was going through channels the other day and practically every car or SUV in that show Ghost Whisperer/Talker or whatever the hell its called is a Chrysler. Maybe its just me, but I think they are used to keep production costs down. Walker Texas Ranger drives a Dodge, but he was driving a GMC in the older episodes. Its possible that the show became more expensive to make so they had to take away his Sierra and give him that POS Dodge (which does get blown up by an apache helicopter in a later episode). In his last T.V. movie, evey character drove a Dodge vehicle. Just my observations.

I almost feel sorry for the guy. He saved up for 13 years just to buy a truck that is probably going to fall apart very soon. If he decides to trade it in, he won’t get a good resale value. Looks do not concern me at all. It’s the ability of the truck to do the job with the least amount of downtime. Some of us can’t afford to sit around and complain about whether a headlight or tail light doesn’t appear the way they want it. If this truck is as good as my small fleet of Chevy’s, two Fords, and one Dodge, then it will be just fine. I only pray that it holds up as good as my older Chevys. I can’t afford it to hold up as well as my 05 Cummins. It would be too expensive to own!

Have you missed me? Im sorry about that. I have been on vacation. When you make plenty of money you can afford to take one. I see you are getting a little testy. It sucks to know Isuzu built your diesel. Yes I know gm owns dmax, but we all know Isuzu designed it. gm just paid them to do so. I will give them credit for that though. Hell, they had to. When has gm ever had a decent diesel? You were saying 55% of people trade in their vehicles inside of 36 months and with less than 50,000 miles. Well thats bullshit. Where did you come up with that. I was reading a article from motor trend magazine which stated most people trade in their vehicles after 4-5 years. It didnt mention what the average mileage was though. So I guess you just made that shit up. Kind of like all older diesels would not run on the new fuel, the weight of your truck, the so-called truck you said you owned, your address, and your wife being dead. Hell the lies go on and on. You really need to start paying more attention to your wife. She was trying to tell you she likes it in the ass. Pussy isn’t too bad either. Once you pass that first 4 inches it gets real tight. I guess you wouldn’t know though. They have operations for that. If I can help let me know.

Well I hope so dumbass you just paid $8,000.00 more for it. So in just 5,000 short miles the dodge has gained $3,000.00. Thanks for all your info. You make this easy. If you put 75,000 miles on them like 99% of the people out there the price difference is only around $1,000.00 between the two. A savings of 7 grand for buying the dodge. Thanks again dumbass.
