Fresh Shots of the 2008 Ford F-250 Super Duty

Our buddies over at Jalopnik.com were kind enough to provide us with this new shot of the upcoming 2008 Ford F-250 Super Duty. There have been a ton of rumors circulating as to what these new trucks have underneath, but it has been confirmed that these testers are powered by a 6.4-liter Powerstroke V8 Turbo Diesel. Expect a first quarter launch, with the new truck probably bowing at the 2007 NAIAS in Detroit.

Looks like the old style 250. big deal.
I like mine better, 06 F350 XLT Regular Cab V10. =) Dont like the headlight placement on this one at all.
Same old crap from the same old king of Crap. GM has already killed them with the new Suburban and Tahoe. And the 07 Silverado comes out in Sept will blow them off the map. I would be shaking in my boots if I were Ford.
looks like Mike forgot who has led GM and chevy for the last quarter century. Another bitter chevy fan who cannot handle 2nd place
I agree with Jim, looks like mike is yet another chevy fan who knows it will always be in 2nd place (or 3rd when dodge passes them). Its not too late to switch over.
Jim and John….
GM is in 1st place in pickup truck sales (Ford was in second place in pickup truck sales) with their truck that was new in 1999….Chevy itself outsold Ford head to head for overall sales and Ford looks to be going down for the count……What are you both talking about??? GM pickups outsold Ford and Dodge pickups, Chevy outsold everyone in overall sales, Chevy was in second place to whom????
Hate to say it Paul, but Ford has led truck sales since 1977, and outsould GM every year since, including 1999. The F-Series is also the best selling vehicle in the US, car or truck, and has been since 1983… As for the truck itself, which the comments should be directed toward, I admit to being underwhelmed, but the new engines hold promise: A 6.2 liter Hurricane gasser, which may possibly outpower the current v-10, and a 6.4 liter powerstroke, with piezo injectors and twin turbos. That, combined with newer emissions tech and low-sulfur diesel, should make the 6.4 the cleanest diesel in the segment, and quite possibly the most powerful. Watchout GM!
Paul, Mike & other Chevy fans….
Just to clear up all the wrong info… Chevy is the one who files for BK & is taking money from Nissan…Also, I work for FORD & we had led Truck sales for OVER 14 years running….JUST TO CLEAR IT ALL UP!!!!!!
Jason
sounds like another gm fan trying to have a claim to fame the ‘08 will continue fords legacy of havening the best most powerfull truck.
Well first Ford needs to have the better 6.4. I have a 2005 6.0 and have had problems. I do not like the head light placement, with all the new headlights out there it just looks Ford could not do anything else with it. I think the next front end design will be better just like the 87 to 91 had that ugly duckling look and was better with the 92 to 97.
I agree that ford has been first place since whenever! I still wish for would have kept their 7.3 litre engine though, because I have two powerstroke one 1999 and one 2003 both 7.3 litres and I’ve never had any problems with them and a duramax has never outpulled me!
LOL.. you people are so uninformed. GM which is the Chevrolet/GMC has outsold Ford for the longest time.. Thats not coming from a chevy fan. Look up the numbers for yourself before you start bashing people who have already done the homework. Ford CAN claim #1 in sales with just the ford Badge. But in reality the GMC/Chevy under different badges claims the #1 spot and has for years. Before you bash me… Look up the facts. They are everywhere if you will only look. Also look at the quaility ratings coming from both GM and Ford… And for the record GM never filed for BK!!! Do your homework! Since January their stock has done nothing but climb! They have been removed from the junk list while Ford remains on the Junk list. DO YOUR HOMEWORK. KNOWLEDGE IS POWER. Without it all you have are sheep following the herd who have no clue as you have not done the proper homework but believe the advertising hype.. OK.. Bash away now. And prove you could care less about fact then reality..

GM’s diesel is a rice burner made by Isuzu. Nissan wants to buy GM. Tahoe, Suburban, Trail blazer, Honda Ridgeline, and anything that looks like these are not trucks. I’d like to see Ridgeline pull a 20,000+lbs trailer! I don’t really like the front end on the 08 Frod Superduty, the back end looks like an F-150, and so does the interior. I love my 02 Superduty. Ford HAS sold more trucks than any other company.
7.3 Powerstroke Rules! F*** OPEC. That engine should have never been put down.
I love the 86, 92-06, but wasn’t to sure about the 87-91 style.
Doug…. In case you were unaware which is obviously the case. GM owns Isuzu.. Nissan does not want to buy GM. They don’t have near the cash even they wanted to. Nissan is possibly looking to purchase some plants from GM.. but the negotions have turned into the possibility of GM aquiring Nissan and Renult…. Again get educated on the facts. And since you insist on repeating that Ford has sold more trucks please provide me with proof of that. As I can show you true sales numbers if you need more proof.
FORD SUCKS! I have an ‘05 350 Powerstroke – the turbo has been replaced – TWICE – all of the injectors have been replaced at different times – it’s been in the shop on 10 different occassions for injector problems – GREAT DESIGN FORD. Right now that are doing a complete replace on the HEADS! The transmission went out with only 1500 miles on it and they have rebuilt it twice. The truck has 80,000 miles on it and won’t hold up. Look at FORD’s STOCK it’s down – way down from $14/share to $6. Add this to the fact the FORD MOTOR COMPANY gives up to $1000 for every Jaguar and Land Rover they sell to GLAAD and take out major ads in PRIDE magazine. Ford promotes diversity training and require all of their employees to attend. Screw FORD! They won’t be getting anymore of my money to give to homesexual magazines. Now they come out with a new diesel – yeah right! They couldn’t even get the 6.0 right – so let’s add another turbo and use state of the art piezo injectors that haven’t been STREET proven in their product. Ford has had to add another turbo and the new injection system because they can’t get the 6.0 or 7.3 to pass the new diesel emission standards for 2007. By the way, Ford has spent $70,000 in warranty work on my truck. This is my 4th Ford and will be my last!!!
well if u would take care of it you wouldnt have to replace all that. I got a 1997 ford F 250 super duty and drive it all the time and it still runs just as good as the day i dought it.And i pull a lot shit with it. Included my brothers peace of shit 06 GM truck a mouth after he bought it. Week later traded it in for a 06 ford F 250 and loves it. GM is the one that sucks
Ted you son of a bitch. What the hell did you do to that trucks tranny? Yes the 6.0 has problems, I never liked it, but the 7.3 has been around since the mid 80’s and is one of the best diesels on the road. It could pass emmissions but They are looking for a more “economic” diesel that gets more milage and weighs less. Twin turbos, I don’t know, how about a supercharger and a turbo. You want a good diesel, get a 97 F350.
Or did you just put gas in the tank instead of diesel like all the other assholes that can’t handle filling up with diesel? Blowing the tranny, You must have put a bigass trailer on it when you got home and floored it.
DOUG.. and everyone else here needs to understand why Fords needs a new Diesel engine… THE EPA is requiring all Diesel fuel to run on a new mixture of fuel. Todays fuel has 500PPM That Parts Per MIllION for those of you whom are a little slow to follow. On OCT 15th of this year as mandated by the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT. Fuel stations must convert to a new fuel called ultra low sulpher or 15PPM sulpher content. Ford did not change with the times and to comply they have to design an entire new Diesel for 07 model year. GM on the other hand planed for this since 04 The LLY and newer LMG motors were designed from the factory to run on BOTH fuels. There will also some changes to the GM motor to comply with EPA standards but it will still retain the same horsepower and torque it now does. which is 360Horse 670Torque… It will cost a new GM buyer of on 07 model year about 2600 for the engine mods. It will cost the average Ford buyer about 8K for the modifications. By 2010 the sale of High sulpher content fuel will be completely illegal. Sorry Ford. Gm has you over a barrel again… WAKE UP.. WAKE UP… Or you wont be a round much longer.!!!!
I sat the hell with EPA let the companies buil trucks like they use to and the hell with this save the envirmant its allready fuck up its not gona get better.
Oh and doug. They are not working a model that is more fuel effecient. In fact it will be roughly 35% less effecient then current ford models. As I have told many people on this blog do your research before you open your mouth. You sound the fool when you simply make up answers. You want more facts? goto epa.gov and learn ya something useful……
Mike
EPA is bullshit, MY reason for new emmissions and efficencies is to compete with the rice burners and I know about the low SULFUR diesel. If international just changed the emmissions system and fuel system on the 7.3, it would pass. GM still sucks shit. Duramax diesels are trash and aluminum heads on a diesel is no good. International is all cast iron, not sure about the 6.4 yet.
Learn some puntuation marks redneck.
Again you are uninformed.. Not that it surprised me much. But the Duramax is the same one used in every Military Hummer… It has more horsepower and torque then any other in its class. And the most sought after engine in its class. Again you are uninformed. Punction means little. Knowledge actually means a whole lot more. You obviously now nothing of the EPA regulations. YOU CAN TELL by your posting… And 06 and prior fords will not run on any ultra low sulpher fuel with engine damage… UHH OHHH.. the 2004-2006 Duramax Will run just fine on Ultra Low Sulpher… I cannot stand people who blabber without knowledge. Come to the table with some brains and talk some sense and we can talk. But quit misleading people due to your own ignorance.
I followed a Duracrap diesel on the highway and it’s the worst smelling engine made.
Freight train engines smell better. The Duramax diesel and Hummer is GM and the military vehicles are garbage. Learn to spell sulfur… S-U-L-F-U-R. Your punctuation makes You sound like an ass.
I dont care for Dodges, but i’ve been around a lot of trucks and truck owners, and the Cunnins turbodiesel is the best most reliable diesel on the market, one of the most powerful, and its a 6 cylinder!!
Cummins is a sweet engine but I like the 8 cylinders better. They sound better and seem to run smoother.
Powerstroke diesels rule… F*** OPEC!
Doug Gibson.. Be very very very proud of your Powerstroke. .. On Oct 15th when you are searching for fuel to burn in it and cannot find any. Or just burn the low sulpher stuff and watch your motor blow up.. LOL… If you would head just a small little warning and do the research you would know your truck is soon to be obsolete. Correct my grammer and or punctuation all you wish. Fact is your about to wish you had bought a durocrap.. it runs on both ultra low and low sulpher content. Was designed to since 03 LLY engine came out. Still has more horespower and torque then the ford. Still drags the ford around the block while its in park.. You quite opinionated for an uninformed fellow… Best of luck to you as I know there is nothing I can do to change your mind. I shall just sit here and shake my head thinking.. What a moron.
Still telling you that I can run veggie oil instead of that Arab crap oil. GMC trucks are close to Ford power and the duracrap has onlt 10ft-lbs more torque but alot less HP. Ford will pull all the other wannabe trucks around the block while their in reverse. You really think International does not know about the new fuel? I hate to tell you that just because of it all the trucking companies are NOT going to swap out all there trucks that wont burn low sulfur. They will still get regular diesel because I highly doubt that they want to spend millions on new trucks.
Oh, Mike, it won’t be untill 2010 that ALL diesels are required to run ULSD.
Your right. The switchover must be completed by 2010
… but ALL stations in the US must sell ULSD… HOw many one pumpers do you think will install a second one to run both fuels for only 3 years of service. Your sources will be sparce. And GM was the only with the forthought to make their engines run on both since 03…. OPPS.. looks like we shall be getting even more Ford owners who are pissed at them. I love it. I love it I love it…. Ford it drowning in its own lack of forthought. And your truck with it. Ohhh. And ummm. In case you are unaware. GMC and CHEVY both run the same engine. Or did you fail to do your research there as well….. LOL. And all the OLD trucks will have engine problems and yes they must all be swapped out by 2010.. 3 years. 35% decrease in milage and poor engine performance. Enjoy your poorly thought out international…. HAHAHA
GMC and Chevy is the same truck. I’ve known that for years. I see you have nothing on Cummins diesels. I could easilly change my emmissions and fuel system for ULSD. I see more Durocraps come into my shop with emmissions problems. Wonder how “great” they will be with the new fuel. SSSSSSUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCKKKKKK.
Doug,
You are obviously biased. And that is fine. But there is no need to put down a superior product just because you cannot afford to own one. If your talking about OLD (pre ‘03) Duramax that is one thing. But since then it has blown the competition away. Reliablility is the best of the bunch. Look up the facts. Don’t be bitter.
I tell you that my truck cost me 43K. Duramax and GMC don’t come close to that.
Duramax HP, 305, Torque, 600.
Powerstroke, HP, 325, Torque, 570
Cummins,HP 325, Torque, 610
Powerstroke and cummins use Cast Iron block and heads.
Duramax/Isuzu use cast aluminum block with wet cast iron sleeve insert with aluminum heads, NO GOOD for heavyduty diesels heat and pressures.
Doug….
Yet again you have not done your homework… Goto http://www.chevrolet.com and check you friggin facts…
360HP 670FT LBS of Torque. I am done with this conversation as it obvious you have not a single clue what your talking about.
ANd a fully loaded 4X4 Duramax currently lists right at 50K…
Do your homework… Make accurate statements then we might talk again. Until then your your just the class dunce.
You go to fordvehicles.com, and powerstrokediesel.com
stop trying to claim Piece of crap GM trucks are better than Fords. 98% of Powerstrokes are still in use. And, only the biggest trailers are pulled by the Fords.
Aluminum diesels suck, Cummins and International do not offer aluminum heads or blocks. The reason, DURABILITY, PERFORMANCE, LONG JEVITY.
Go to duramaxdiesel.com and read about your duracrap. Anyone who knows diesels does not want an aluminum engine. Isuzu /Duramax is a diesel for the women.
LOL.. still class dunce You dont get it…
douche bag.
That makes sense… You cannot compete with the new engine so you call me a douce bag. If you go to ANY REAL unbiased website they will show you fewer problems per 100 units with the Duramax, And much more horsepower and torque. If you are unable to face the facts that is you problem. You can suck on the tailpipe of your Powerstroke for all I Care. It will be obsolete in a couple of months anyways. CYA!
There will be modifications for the older engines. Again, just because of new fuel, not everyone will get a new engine. What Powerstroke are you busting on for power specs? 6.0L or 7.3 L DIT? You have not heard of the 6.4 yet have you? Oh, and the new Silverado, just your type of “truck”, pussy.
LOL.. you are so uninformed its a riot. Im done. You must be all of about 15 years old as you certainly cannot read well. Like I said in another thread your very biased opinion is not based on any sort of facts it is based on your OPINION which is meaningless. Performance and Sales numbers are all that really matter. So when it comes right down to it you shall soon be pouting and I imagine will disappear into the woodwork.. And the 04-07 GM products require no modifications. Guess they got ya again… *sigh… dont cry.
I’m 67 years old. Every one of my trucks was a Ford. Gm was an extremely poor truck and still is.
67 years old. Explains why you are unwilling to move over to a better vehicle. Your stuck in the past. The future is here. The technology is here. Older folks usually connot keep up with technology very well and explains your obvious lack of factual knowledge.
Powerstroke is THE BEST diesel for a pickup that hauls 20,ooo lbs of trailer. You have probably never seen it in action against a duracrap. Duramax smokes when under stress and has no power for being an 8 cylinder. And, it dosen’t even sound like it’s diesel. Sounds like a old japanese and smells like a four banger trying to move a fat ass guy up a hill. Just like an aluminum block and head “diesel” such as the durocrap womens wannabe diesel.
If nothing else your a riot Doug. Not very smart but pretty entertaining. And yes. I have seen the videos of the Ford VS Chevy under extreme loads and watch the Ford blow an engine in the process… You can probably find it YOUTUBE… But I sincerely doubt you will make the effort. Why learn when you can simply blabber BS….
Youtube has nothing. Go to www. gulfcoastnews.com/RT2005F250.htm and read the page.
DIRECTLY FROM ENGINE MANUFACTURER’S WEBSITE…
Duramax 6.6 litre diesel-300HP and 520 ft-lbs torque.
Cummins 6.1 litre diesel-325HP and 610 ft-lbs torque.
Powerstroke 6.4 litre diesel-350HP and 650 ft-lbs torque.
These are new for 07.
Actually The New GM LBZ diesel is 360 HP and 650 ft. lbs. of torque, but I’m not tryin to stir the pot……..Just FYI……
THIS IS FUNNY TO READ . THANKS FOR THE ENTERTAINMENT. THE 2008 FORDS WILL BE AT THE DALLAS AUTOSHOW IN OCTOBER. THEY SELL THE MOST FORD TEXAS.
FYI DURAMAX SUCKS/ BUY BOTH TRUCKS & COMPARE THEM . I HAVE PROOF THAT THE FORD HAS A GREAT MOTOR GOT A TICKET DOING 120 MPH IN MY F250 IN OKLAHOMA DAMN SPEED TRAPS IN MUSKOGEE,OK.
What year F-250 do you have? My 02 the speedometer only goes to 100. Finally got some backing that the Duramax is a Duracrap!
Well the DuraCrap as you call it is outselling the Powerstroke by a wide margin. Might have something to do with better fuel economy, lower DB rating, More Power Etc… but geeee I dont know. Maybe you are the only smart one int he country and rest of the people who do their homework are morons.
this has to be the most idiotic and entertaining conversations ive heard in a long time. sure, im only 16 years old, but i know a good deal about the domestics trucks. first of all, TOYOTA just outsold ford in the month oj july, talk about sad. second, chevy is the number one brand in america, gm is the number one in the world! another thing, chevy and gmc have 360hp and 650 ft. pounds, 07 ford, 350hp, 360 ft, pounds, dodge, 325,610. Even the BRAND NEW powerstroke has less power then gms. not to mention they get better gas milage, my dads 03 chevy 3500 ls 4×4 dully gets 14mpg, vs. my friends dads 05 powerstroke only gets 11mpg. another thing, my dads truck is 2 years older then that 05 powerstoke, and it still outpulls it, we pulled a boat up a mountain which weighed about the same as that camper that the furd was pulling, and they couldnt keep up with us, my dad didnt even have it floored! he has always bought chevys, and has never had any problems, his truck has 55000 miles on it, not anything done to it exept oil changes, the furd on the other hand….has had numerous turbos replaced, 2 or 3, and i forget the other problems its had, but in the past month, its been in the shop every week. my friends dad says he really wants to buy a ford or dodge instead, which is a great idea! he had a 02 furd-exactly the same as this one, and it had just as many problems! also, ive read 3 truck magazines-motortrend, c&d, and some other one, where they tested all three trucks head to head(3500s) and the chevy won every time! and its a 7 year old truck! doug, you have no facts, and it seems like you have been hit one too many over the head with the idiot stick! and also i have never heard of any problems with the alluminum block, so get some facts for a change man!
I have a 97 Ford F-250 4×4 Crew Cab XLT with the Powerstroke that I bought brand new and have had the auto tranny replaced($2800) at 39,000 miles, injector work, cam module replaced ($750 that left me stranded ), all the door lock actuators replaced and a couple times for various oil leaks. The truck now has 101,000 miles on it and now it sounds like the power steering pump is going out. I used to tow a 9800 pound travel trailer and was never really impressed with its pulling power. I also have an 02 F-250 4×4 Super Cab Lariat with the Powerstroke that I bought brand new and I have had the auto tranny replaced at 42,000 miles ( extended warranty!) cam module replaced ( that left me stranded towing my 11,500 pound 5th wheel ) oil leak fixed and its leaking again. This truck has 89,000 miles on it. I am in the market now for a new truck and am seriously looking at the 2500 Chevy 4×4Crew Cab with the Dura Max. The HP/ Torque is higher than Ford or Dodge. If Im going to spend $45,000 plus on a new truck it better be worth it. Unfortunately, my experience with Fords lately has not been very good and I have always been a Ford man. When my 02 broke down I had called a tow company to come get my truck and a friend of mine to tow my 5th wheel back to Las Vegas. Well, Dave shows up with a big shit eating grin on his face…cuz you guessed it ……he has a Chevy 4×4 Crew Cab with the Duramax. He blew up that grade to Boulder City like it was nothing and my Ford used to strain some going up that same grade. He tows a 39′ Teton 5th wheel and has never had a problem with his truck. I have the X plan for Ford thru my work but I am still considering a Chevy.
