Our buddies over at Jalopnik.com were kind enough to provide us with this new shot of the upcoming 2008 Ford F-250 Super Duty. There have been a ton of rumors circulating as to what these new trucks have underneath, but it has been confirmed that these testers are powered by a 6.4-liter Powerstroke V8 Turbo Diesel. Expect a first quarter launch, with the new truck probably bowing at the 2007 NAIAS in Detroit.

Both Mike and Bill are probably two kids in High School. Mike likes GM because his dad drives one, and Bill prefers Dodge because his dad has one. Why don’t the two of you just ask your fathers if you can use their trucks? You guys have to talk about contracts and make up BS that has no relevance because DADDY will not give you the keys. Mike, any MAN with a real job does not have time to stay up all hours of the night (usually after 11pm in your case) and write about trucks. Instead of reseaching truck info, you guys should be studying for math exams and writing your book reports. You could tell me how much horsepower my truck has and what Edmunds says about it, but you probably could not recite the Capitols of all 50 States, or tell me why the Earth has four seasons. Bill, obviously you did not have economics class yet, or pay attention in it, because if you did, you would know how hard it is to actually make $145,000 a year. But hell, I guess this does not matter because the two of you will find out how hard it is to make money after you graduate high school (if you do). Just by reading the stupid S%#* you guys write I think that either of you would be very lucky to eventually own a Dodge, if even a truck at all.

  • Mike

    Zack…

Brilliant post. First off, It is not really difficult to make 145K a year. Believe me I know.

I graduated HS in 1983 and College in 1988. I am glad to see you keep up with my hours however.

What truck do you drive I will be more then happy to tell you what horsepower it has and what edmunds says about it. I will also gladly share with you more facts then you can imagine about your own truck. TRY ME.

I have more trucks in my own drive way then you will own in your lifetime. Doubt me? Let me know, I will gladly show you.

If you wish to know the capital of all 50 states let me know when the quiz starts, if you want to know about the four seasons call me.. I will be more then happy to fill you in.

Get over yourself. This conversation is obviously well over your head.

P.S. yes, bildo is a dumb fuck.. it is part of life.

    night night.

Wow Mike, 5 years for a B.A! Thats pretty good for a car salesman. HAHAHA

No, I’m just BSing you. I came across this site the other day and was just trying to dump some more gas on the fire. Its quite entertaining to watch two guys go at it on an outdated post for over a year.

Anyways Mike, why is it that I can no longer get a manual transmition in the GM Duramax? I read that they do not offer them in the 07′ models. There is no greater feeling than going through the gears of a 6-speed. Dodge has the best engine and pretty good manual, but the whole rest truck is a POS. A relative of mine has an 02′ and the doors are already rusted off. The new ones look even cheaper: thinner sheet metal, shitty looking interior (especially the gages), and a smaller rear axel. The only reason they created the Mega Cab is because they were too cheap to redesign the frame inorder to make a decent sized 4-door. The engineers just put a shortbed on a longbed frame, measured the difference, and converted it into cab space.

I like my GMC but I feel that they too are becoming cheaper and less like real trucks. I put up with the IFS, and in my mind the second place Duramax. However, if they pull the mannuals I think I might go with the Ford in a few years if the 6.4 can prove itself. Why not?

  • Mike

    Zack,

GM discontinued the manual transmission across the entire line of Silverado’s from half ton to 1ton. They accounted for less then 5% of total truck sales. They do offer the Manual Automatic as a standard feature on the Allsion transmission.

It was simply a cost vs. profit decision.

I can understand why in your mind the Duramax is second place. We created that image early on with head gasket problems. Today I will argue that it is now the BEST and also the most powerful engine available. And it has by far the best warranty. The Cummins is also a great engine. I cannot argue that fact. And as you already know I agree with your statement of the rest of the truck.

The ford is obviously a better choice then the Dodge for you. If you have the time to wait and see if the engine is going to hold up.

While you are waiting try out a Allison with in Manual mode and see if it might work for you. It is without question the best Transmission in the business.

    Best.

    Zack,
Mike is 100% right about the allison. In my truck its not even the power as much as the allison tranny. While pulling a load and in the tow/haul mode, the transmission is always in the right gear and downshifts as if you were using a manual. I have to admit no manual is a loss, considering it is a pickup but you have to realize that the allison tranny more than covers it. If you are looking for a manual to save gas; I can attest that the allison shifts nicely and will get pretty good gas mileage out of your engine. Now for the reliability of the Duramax, I haven’t had any problems except blowing a condensor belt for the air conditioning. Not only did GM replace it for free, but they cleaned my truck. The Duramax is quiet and powerful and to me a better looking truck then the Ford. The Ford is nice and I really like the 6.4 but the gas mileage is pretty bad. My buddy has a 6.4 and is only getting 11 mpg; meanwhile I’m getting around 19 mpg. Anyway just thought I’d throw in my two sense.

  • Zackery,

All of the trucks are getting cheaper, especially gm. The damn thing is mostly plastic. I do however like the transmission, but the rest sucks. Its the only hd truck without a straight axle, It has the smallest crew-cab, and it looks like a half ton. The mileage that new yorker states is now a thing of the past. The older duracraps did get good mileage, but the newer ones are right there with the fords. Probably has to do with the newer emissions. One of my customers has a 07 chevy crew cab 4×4 with the duramax. He says he gets a little over 13 mpg. He lives in Spring and works in Houston so that city and highway driving. I have a 04 Dodge dually 4×4 that averages 16. Around 19 for long trips. Not sure how the new ones do, but I will in a couple weeks. If you do go gm you better buy the 08. I know a gm mechanic and he says that the 07 was made to run between 10- 12ppm sulfur. Right now the diesel is 15ppm, but could soon change. The Cummins is the only engine that meets the 2010 emissions. Your 07 will not hold up if they take more sulfur out of the diesel. As far as that goes the 08 as well. All they did was put more emission junk on the engine and raised the price 3k dollars. Good luck on your decision. The ford has the best looking truck, but not sure how that engine will hold up.

I see you noticed how much time mike stays on the computer. I guess he doesn’t sell many vehicles. It must suck to sell junk.

  • Mike is a fucking dumbass. He says he has more trucks in his driveway than Zackery will ever own. Bullshit.

  • Mike

Billy. anytime you wish to come see for yourself you have the address. I doubt I will ever see you. You don’t have the nad’s to show up at my house. I would like to see it. BUT I do doubt it.. As I have said many times. Anytime you feel froggy, just jump.

  • spare me little car sales man. I have tried and tried to meet you but you puss out. Your such a lying bitch. Im guessing your around 18 or 20. “If you feel froggy, just jump”. Wow! Im impressed.

  • Mike

Obviously you do not have the nads. You have known where I am for months, yet I don’t see you our your trash….

Until you show you are nothing but hot air.

  • Blah blah blah. Another typical excuse from a typical pussy. Man up Bitch.

  • hhhmmm can i get a ford truck with a dodge engine with the allison tranny? wishfull thinking..

like what you want. why argue?

  • Brian

Mike… I like the fact that you’ve done your homework and are extremely loyal to GM. I myself love GM performance and racing (2002 Camaro SS is my baby). As for trucks… I have to say I’m quite fond of my 2008 F-250 Diesel. It does what I need it to and it looks fantastic. My one question to you is this. I appreciate that Chevy makes a decent truck and the Allison tranny is fantastic…. hahaha.. okay enough of that, here’s my question. Don’t you have anything better to do with your time than post bulletins bashing Ford lovers? I mean, seriously… you’re not convincing anyone that Chevy’s are better if they’re loyal to Ford. This is an age old rivalry. The facts are all there and people are adult enough to make decisions accordingly. I did and I don’t regret it one bit. Long live the Bowtie and the Blue Oval baby… it’s all about AMERICAN POWER!!!!!

  • Doug Gibson

Mike you fuckin asshole, your still at it? I’ve been seeing more and more GM trucks on Ford lots. You loose. Ford wins… Again. Now go take the 4 plastic pins out of your crap chevy and watch the whole front end including the radiator fall off.

  • Bill

    Doug,

    Where have you been?

  • Mike

Hey DOUGY BOY/BILLY BOW/WESLEY.. ALL 3 of you are one person. I have the IP numbers you DUMBASS!!!!

    YOUR STILL MY BITCH.

AND GM STILL OUTSELLS FORD. I REPAT FOR AT LEAST THE 100th time.

DO YOUR HOMEWORK. THE FACTS ARE CLEARLY STATED IN THE PRESS.

  • Bill

    mikey,

There is no way for you to be able to ping my modem with the firewalls I have. Oh and by the way its IP address dumbass not IP number. Please fill us all in on the address. We are all curious to what it is. Thats how confident I am on you being full of shit yet again. Did you know that you can retrieve all my info I have on my pc by having my IP address? So please share this info. Or once again you will be proved as a lying bitch.

Did you also say you repat for at least the 100th time? What the fuck does that mean? Is that something you do when you lose your wife to another man? They call that masturbation, but hey call it what you want. Apparently you do a lot of it.

  • Mike

little billy/doug gibson/wesley/dumb ass….. you have used all three of those names to get your rocks off. You try to lie and bash and slam your positions down people’s throats even when your position makes absolutely no logical sense at all.

I believe you to be a bit of a psychopath and delusional.

You have discussed police stations, fucking dead people, bad mouthed Justin’s Mother, Lex’s spelling, my FACTS. Now you believe that because someone obtains your IP address they can see everything on your computer. Well guess what, do a bit more homework if you think it is that simple. If you wish to access my computer my IP address is 10.133.113.59. Heck I shall even give you the gateway it is 10.133.113.10 . Now let’s
see how that works out for you. Show us how fucking smart you are DUMBASS. Now you wish to discuss masturbation and losing my wife to another man. She died of Cancer you asshole. Nor does the personal attacks have ANYTHING to do with the topics at hand.

    Now for some facts.

GM is the Number one selling truck on the road. PERIOD AND PROVEN.
GM HAS THE BEST RESALE VALUE THEN EITHER FORD OR DODGE. PERIOD AND PROVEN.
DODGE IS OFFICIALLY THE WORST SELLING TRUCK ON THE ROAD PERIOD AND PROVEN.
DODGE DOES NOT BUILD 1TON TRUCKS THAT COST OVER 60K. PERIOD. AND PROVEN.
DODGE IS THE BIGGEST PIECE OF SHIT ON THE ROAD. NO MATTER HOW MANY INCENTIVES, HOW LONG THE WARRANTY, OR HOW CHEAP THEY SELL FOR MOVES THEM OFF THE LOT. PEOPLE KNOW THEY ARE TRASH. PERIOD AND PROVEN

TRY TO DISPUTE THE ABOVE FACTS. YOU CANNOT. SO DEAL WITH IT.

Some PERSONAL facts that are irrelevant but seem to haunt you.

1.)My Wife Died. It is a sad day when people like you try to capitalize other’s misfortunes.
2.)Yes I am in the car business while not in sales I do support sales with market research. I am not ashamed of it no matter how much that upset you. I could care less how much money you make or what you claim to make. I can assure you income is the very least of your problems and certainly not mine.
3.) Justin has worked his ass off doing his own research which you just laugh at. I find that to be quite rude and ignorant. Fact’s are simply that. FACTS. Justin has shown you the facts and you laugh at them. You may think you are smarter but Justin has you pegged. Notice he no longer responds to you? I Am taking his lead and ending it here.
4.) You have my address, you have failed to show up and you claim it to be a fake. I am actually a little nervous of what you might do with my address so I am taking measures to ensure my safety.

All of that being said I am done with this thread, I should have been done with it long ago. I am a professional, I have a job to do that is actually productive to the automotive industry. I know my facts and do not need to argue with Psychopaths and liars.

For the rest of you who wish to keep in contact or have real legitimate questions please ask Justin, he knows how to contact me. Justin, please do not give out my private email address. You are the only here I trust with it. Billy I shall be closing the email address I made just for you when you PROMISED to sign a contract. Yet another lie. So don’t bother me there any longer.

In closing, Bill I hope you enjoy your dodge. I could honestly care how much you love it or if you even hump it in the evenings.

Justin, Keep up the good work, I think one day you will end up in the auto industry in some form or fashion, you have knack for it and you do the homework.

The rest of you, I sincerely hope you had a few laughs and learned a few things from this thread. Please separate the facts from the bullshit.

I am outta here gang. And this thread is done with.

  • Bill

    stubby,

That is not a valid IP address. For your info you never keep the same IP address only the mac address and gateway. Your gateway is the route your provider uses to allow you access to the Internet. Without your real IP there is no way to hack. I love how you make it so easy to prove your a dumb ass, but Im so glad your gone. Your lies are getting old. Do you honestly believe I would give you my real name? What a dumb fuck. I do however know William Bergfeld. He owns Feeders Supply in Conroe. I would say he is in his 70’s. Cant say I know the others. So please keep showing me what you can do. Im not in the least impressed, but I did know you were scared of me. Thats the reason for the police station address. As far justin is concerned. His research is about as good as yours. I keep looking for that 70,000 lb. trailer being pulled by the dually. Ha that was a good one. He did however prove the vin # of the truck you claimed to have owned was not yours. Well cya stubby. Stay afraid. Very afraid. WHEEWWW HOOOOO HOOOOO HAAAAAAAAAAAA HAAAAAAAAAAAA HA!!!!!!!

  • ashley

this caris cool but can be inproved

  • Cody

lol i found this site not too long ago and i realized that this Mike fellow seems pissed at the world and Ford. Sorry Mike but Ford is the best seller of pick ups for the last 30 years and yes GM does sell more vehicles all around but not trucks.

  • Bill Bergfield

Has anyone notice gm has the only 4 speed transmission in a half ton? What a p.o.s.

  • Lance

    Bill,

Are you talking about the truck that is outselling everyone else?

    That P.O.S. ????

Is your daddy still nailing you in the butt?

  • Bill Bergfield

    Lance.

No. Im nailing your mom in the butt though. Damn your dad must have a short penis like mike, because its tight as hell.

  • Bill Bergfield

Gm is totally being outdone by all manufactors. It must suck to own one.

  • Lance

I agree. They have the only halfton with a 4 speed. The only h.d. without a straight axle, and their fastest truck has more h.p. than any other manufactor, but gets smoked by the Toyota. Wow what a p.o.s.

  • Ronald

i know for a fact that chevy has been the best truck for many years now and if you do a little homework you would no the same. the new 2007-08 2500hd duramax diesal with the allison tranmission was rated the best truck overall and it out pulled the ford f-350 and and dodge beat it in over all pulling only by a couple hundred pounds but only in the long run chevy out towed everyone else

  • djm

tty funny you guys are so loyal to one brand. i own at least 3 of the “big 3″ trucks.my fleet is about 30 trucks now. let me tell you. they all suck!!!!!. i hate all of them. cant wait to try the new toyota crew cab diesel. ive heard some amazing things

  • Bill

Good luck with that toy crew cab diesel djm. if you really own that many trucks then you would already know that toy has proven they cannot keep up with GM.

    1. Blowing crank shafts
    2. throwing transmissions
    3. tailgates falling off
    4. 4 star crash rating
    5. criminial investigation into poor quality
    6. removed from recommended buy list by Consumer Reports due to quality issues.
    7. They dont make a diesel
    8. They dont make anything larger than a 1/2 ton

best of luck with those 30 trucks.. DUH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Bill

It seems the duracrap is having hard time with the new emissions. It won’t be long before a recall

  • Nick

if a duramax is so great why is it that i held one that had 500hp with a 7.3L with 6sp that only is making 350hp?

  • tim

any one ever talk to any one in the army. i have alot of poeple, i work on post the hummer is shit and 90% of them want a better truck at is why the new contract, and the winner is international. so why do you think that chevy crap hole truck is better. because the gov. thicks chevy sucks too. check your history on jeep in ww1 they could not keep up with prodution. they did not ask for chevys help, no they when to ford frod buit most of the jeeps in service of ww1. any body want to talk about trannys chevy said to much power on the new trannys was the problem worng shit design was problem. you see who 90’s chevys with paint flaking off. you can thank gm for that they skipped on 1 coat of primer, base and clear to save money they ever project the coast of recall and how many peoeple would replie to the recall. they made a killing. you want to talk about gms f ups because if you add it all up they are worst company in the world. the bad thing is you stand beside them and all they do is laught at you.

  • John

All of you stop this bullshit all the cars are bad except FORD!!!!!!!!11

  • John

If you want to challenge me that chevrolet is better than Ford then try me and you will cry Lol..

  • Chrysler is still an American company, Mike. In 1998 Daimler-Benz and the Chrysler Corporation tied the knot. The newly created DaimlerChrysler [DCX] conglomerate was touted in the business world as a merger of equals with both companies retaining their unique and distinct identities. Daimler did not buy Chrysler.

  • RNG

I own a 2008 F-250. I own a Chevy truck as well as a Dodge. When looking for a new truck to pull our 36 foot gooseneck 5 horse slant load horse trailer with full living quarters, I wanted to try them all out. I dont give a crap about the little school boy trash talking like F.O.R.D. means found on road dead or first on race day, or any of the other BS. I have had good luck with all the makes, and some bad with all the makes as well, but NONE really enough to bash about. Grow up!! When looking for my new truck, a lot of things had to factor in. Number 1 was the pulling power. All the BIG 3 have good power ! The ride. Smooth ride goes a long way when pulling a big trailer. The quietness in the cab. When I was a kid, the more noise the better. I am now over all that, and quiet is nice. Thus, with all these factors considered, I chose the Ford. Also, the fuel mileage is nice as well. I am getting around 23mpg on the highway, and its not broken in good yet. Here are some facts and specs I have dug up about this new power plant.

High-tech Powerstroke® turbo-diesel is more powerful, more capable

The new 6.4-liter diesel utilizes Ford Clean Diesel Technology™ to deliver the best PowerStroke® diesel ever. The new powerplant meets the most stringent emissions standards in the world, while still increasing power and torque in an engine that is smooth and quiet.

“We had to put in this level of technology to meet emissions,” said Dan Davidson, Powertrain Supervisor. “We went up in displacement to improve torque and horsepower as well. Effectively we said, ‘if we’re going to do a new engine to meet emissions, then let’s improve performance as well.’ We didn’t compromise on anything.”

The 6.4-liter PowerStroke® clean-diesel makes an impressive 350 horsepower at 3,000 rpm and 650 foot-pounds of torque starting at 2,000 rpm while reducing particulate output by up to 97 percent and posting emissions numbers on par with gasoline engines.

A tough, cast iron block and heads provide a strong, durable foundation for making power and torque. A new cylinder head design and piston bowl design optimize the high-cylinder pressures delivered by the high-pressure fuel system. The higher pressures provide more efficient combustion equating to increased power and cleaner emissions.

The pistons mount to the forged-steel crankshaft with larger, stronger rods that feature an increased rob bearing diameter. The pistons are galley-cooled providing optimized operation and increased durability.

Two turbos are better than one

The high-tech, series sequential turbochargers provide improved response throughout the entire power band with better low-end performance. Tests have shown zero-to-60 times of more than a second faster than the outgoing 6.0-liter.

The two turbochargers work in tandem. The small, electronic-controlled, smart remote variable geometry turbocharger comes on at low rpm to provide extra boost at take-off. As rpms increase, the larger fixed turbo joins the smaller turbo to boost power through the middle of the torque curve. As optimum speed is reached, the larger turbo takes over.

The system can make up to 42 pounds of boost and is bolted to the engine with mounting brackets designed to reduce NVH. The turbos themselves have been optimized against oil coking.

High-pressure fuel system makes quiet power

Clean diesel is fed to the engine via a state-of-the-art, high-pressure common rail fuel injection system. Fuel, pressurized to 26,000 PSI (1,800 bar) is injected into the cylinders through class-exclusive Piezo-electric injectors. The latest in injector technology can deliver up to five injections per combustion cycle to better control emissions, provide instant response for optimized acceleration, and improve cold start down to –20 degrees Fahrenheit.

Piezo technology is also the enabler behind the PowerStroke®’s quiet, gasoline-engine noise levels, further enhanced by mounting the injectors under the valve covers.

Innovations reduce emissions with improved fuel economy and durability

Dual 440 mm EGR coolers feature an air oxidation catalyst that literally scrubs the exhaust gasses from the air to protect coolers against fouling and the EGR valve against deposits.

The EGR valve itself is impressive. The self-cleaning valve features a high torque, high-flow, dual poppet DC electric motor that increases actuation force to 400N. The engine management system monitors the valve checking for the slight buildup that can impair the valves ability to seat securely. The module reads these “soft closings” and takes the necessary steps to clean the seat.

The Powerstroke®’s engine control module (ECM) has been improved for 2008. Fuel controls and engine controls are now integrated into the same, rugged cast aluminum housing, enabling proper operation of the state-of-the-art engine technologies. The ECM durability tests have been increased by two times to insure robustness and long life.

The highly efficient, exhaust system combines engine and emissions-control technologies such as the diesel particulate filter (DPF) and oxidation catalyst into a close-knit system, removing nearly 97 percent of the diesel particluate. The system has been optimized for performance. For example, extensive use of Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) tools optimized flow to reduce losses.

“We took a real hard focus at the minute details of the design and the angles of the transitions as you go from part to part,” said Davidson.

An all-new engine from an all-new development process

The New 6.4L diesel is more than just a clean sheet of paper engine. It benefits from an innovative clean-sheet-of-paper development process that optimized durability, performance, fuel economy and emissions.

“The Super Duty program set the precedents for this new process,” said Davidson, “and the results have been nothing short of amazing. Our initial durability test vehicles exhibited near-zero issues in reference to powertrain.”

The focus of the program was to design a development process that more accurately reflected how Super Duty customers used their vehicles everyday. The team began by collecting real-world data from working Super Duty commercial customers, tracking their daily duty cycles.

The data was used to develop durability tests that were more representative of these real-world duty cycles. For example, this was the first time that dynamometer tests were run with the transmission bolted to the engine during the durability run, allowing engineers to see how the up-shifts and downshifts affected the powertrain during the duty cycle.

The tests were conducted using the most extreme and abusive conditions and run to five-times the life cycle that the hardest-working truck would ever experience, further assuring durability,

“By the time we launch this vehicle,” said Davidson, “the engine will have seen more than 10 million equivalent miles of testing both on the dyno and in test vehicles.”

The extended testing hours allowed the team to scrutinize every component and system under theses customer-driven conditions. As a result, more than 500 design improvements were made to the diesel powertrain to improve performance and durability.

Powertrain options include the segment’s most powerful gasoline engine

    The all-new 6.4-liter turbo diesel joins a proven gasoline powetrain line-up that includes the 6.8-liter, three-valve Triton™ V-10 that makes 362 horsepower and 457 pound-feet of torque – both class-leading figures.

Customers can also choose Ford’s modular 5.4-liter, three-valve Triton™ V-8 that delivers 300 horsepower and 365 pound-feet of torque. More than 80 percent of peak torque – nearly 300 pound-feet – is available starting as low as 1,000 rpm.

Both engines benefit from electronic throttle control, which provides economy and performance benefits. For commercial users who need elevated engine speed to run aftermarket power takeoff (PTO) systems, the “stationary elevated idle control” feature is available on all models.

The gasoline engines feature all-new exhaust systems and newly designed air boxes that mount solidly to the new modular front structure. Transmission choices include a six-speed manual with overdrive or a TorqShift™, Five-speed automatic. The transmissions utilize a new, unique mounting system that better isolates the powertrain and reduces vibration.

Transmissions feature all-new gear sets and a three-plate, two-stage torque converter to reduce turbine noise when the converter is locked. The F-450 uses upgraded synchronizers to enable electronic shift on the fly.

Keeping it cool increases power and durability

The Super Duty cooling system has been designed to handle the utmost of extremes. Engineers based the system tests on the F-550 chassis cab’s pulling gate of 33,000-pounds, combined weight.

“Our cooling targets are more stringent,” said Rick Murty, cooling engineer. “We shoot for lower cooling temperatures than the competition. We run the competition through our tests and their temperatures are about 30 degrees higher than ours. That 30 degrees of cooling turns into more towing power and more torque.”

Super Duty’s radiator has grown by 33 percent and a larger water pump nearly doubles flow rate from 75 to 140 gals per minute.

A larger fuel filter better separates water from the fuel, an important asset with the onset of biodiesel. Ford recommends B5 (5 percent biodiesel) for Super Duty’s 6.4-liter PowerStroke turbo Diesel.

I Love My New Truck !!

  • DAN campbell

My new ford f250 has medium stone interior. I was told it would be gray, it is baby shit yellow.
