Tuned: ABT Sportsline Eos

Abt Sportsline of Germany has managed to tune and tweak Volkswagen’s Eos even before it hits dealer showrooms in the US. Upgrades include an additional 70 horsepower for the 2.0T models, agressive ground effects, and promises that the car will be 70% less feminine. Okay, we made that last part up, but it certainly does look much more manly than the Eos in stock trim.

Spied! BMW M3 Coupe Totally Naked

We’ve seen the M3 prototypes all over the place by now…but here she is for the first time minus about 90% of the camo!

This is the first set of M3 coupe pictures showing all these details from the curves of the air intakes to the quad exhaust pipes.

The next-generation M3 is the first V8-engined 3-Series, and offers 400+ horsepower – so expect it to race from 0-100 km/h in a fraction over five seconds, and go on to a limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph).

Power will be fed to the rear wheels via a six speed manual gearbox or the latest SMG sequential manual, possibly with seven ratios. The new M3 should maintain the M3’s reputation for outstanding handling. The V8 will be more compact than the current in-line six- cylinder model, while a longer wheelbase will help with weight distribution. Externally, the car takes many cues from the M5 with front wing vents and discreet ‘M’ badges, while the look of the all-new 3-Series means an aggressive nose and deeply sculpted flanks.

We hope to see this in dealer showrooms late in the 2007 calendar year.

Spied!!! Mitsubishi Evo X Production Prototype

The spies at over at Priddy & Co. were fruitful on their hunt earlier today as they picked off what appears to be a prototype of the upcoming Mitsubishi Evo X. Details are slim right now, but we know that the Evo X will debut in the 2008 Model Year, and is based off the GS Platform also used on the current Dodge Caliber. Rumors are that this iteration of the Evo will feature more than 300 horsepower, and will be put on a diet resulting in a curb weight significantly less than that of the current Evo. We’ll keep you posted as more details surface on this next generation import hot rod.

Editors Note: This could also be a variation of the Ralliart model. Either way, the prototype is fairly true to the concept’s form.

A continuing tradition: the new model variant SLR “722 Edition” is a homage by Mercedes-Benz to the unforgettable victory won by the British racing legend Stirling Moss and his co-driver Denis Jenkinson in a Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR with the starting number 722 (indicating a start time of 7.22 a.m.) at the Mille Miglia in 1955. With an output of 478 kW/650 hp and a corresponding performance, the new super sports car, which goes on sale on July 11, will not only make the hearts of car enthusiasts beat faster.

Auburn Hills, Mich., Jul 1, 2006 – Chrysler Group President and CEO Tom LaSorda today announced that Dodge Challenger will return to production after a nearly 35-year hiatus. The all-new Dodge Challenger will debut as a 2008 model in calendar-year 2008.

The announcement was made shortly before the Pepsi 400 NASCAR race at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Fla. Driving out with the Dodge Challenger was Chrysler Group Chief Operating Officer Eric Ridenour.

“We haven’t seen this kind of spontaneous, passionate response to a car since we unveiled the Dodge Viper concept in 1989,” said LaSorda. “But it’s easy to see what people like about the Dodge Challenger. It’s bold, powerful and capable. It’s a modern take on one of the most iconic muscle cars, and sets a new standard for pure ‘pony car’ performance.”

The Dodge Challenger will feature the long hood, short deck, wide stance and two-door coupe body style that distinguished the iconic Challengers of the 1970s.

“We drew on the rich heritage of the Dodge Challenger, but with contemporary forms and technologies,” said Ridenour. “It’s not just a re-creation; it’s a reinterpretation.”
