The Lincoln MKR concept delivers elegant simplicity for modern premium buyers – as well as a new engine family.

The romantic four-door coupe features modern interpretations of Lincoln’s strongest design cues. Plus, the concept features environmentally friendly amenities and fuel-saving technology.

Topping the list: the TwinForce™ engine family. The concept’s 3.5-liter gasoline twin-turbocharged direct-injection V-6 performs comparably or better than V-8 engines, delivering 415 horsepower and 400 lb.-ft. of torque on renewable E-85 ethanol.

A new era of Lincoln design

“The Lincoln MKR concept is sophisticated and modern, resembling an athlete – extremely strong and fit but looks elegant in a tuxedo,” said Peter Horbury, executive director of Design, The Americas. “This concept is the ultimate expression of elegant simplicity consistent with the world’s best Lincolns, and this new design language will lead us forward in the growing premium segment.”

Seven key exterior cues define modern Lincoln design:
• Clean, uncluttered surfaces
• Powerful, dynamic beltline
• Chamfered surface running parallel to the beltline
• Distinctive Lincoln bow-wave, double-wing grille opening
• Thin, horizontal taillamps that run from one side to the other
• Powerful C-pillar smoothly transitioning into the cantilevered roof, and
• Powerful cantrail/roofrail

All seven of these elements are highlighted on the Lincoln MKR concept. However, only three or four are likely to appear on any one future production vehicle at a time, helping differentiate the brand’s various vehicle types going forward.

The Lincoln MKR’s most dramatic feature is front and center – the signature double-wing grille inspired by the 1941 Lincoln Continental Cabriolet. The split grille is designed to resemble the bow of a boat cutting through the water, giving the oversized Lincoln star a proper home on which to stand proud. The new grille also encapsulates LED headlamps.

Under its sculptured hood is the exquisitely executed TwinForce™ engine, finished in chrome and accented in the cranberry red metallic paint that dresses the rest of the modern exterior. From above, this Lincoln proudly showcases its brand heritage. A large structural Lincoln star punctuates the glass roof that spans the top of the car.

The Lincoln MKR concept’s four doors and bodyside remain characteristically clean. A button concealed in the chrome door trim springs open front-hinged ‘winged’ doors, slightly inclined for additional sophistication and a touch of drama. From the rear, the coupe concept is instantly recognizable as a Lincoln, thanks to full-width LED taillamps stretching from side to side.

Under its skin, the Lincoln MKR features independent rear suspension for a more refined driving character. The car sits on 21-inch chrome aluminum wheels, with unique Michelin tires that have the Lincoln star in the treads.

Modern, ‘guilt-free’ luxury touches

A black oak instrument panel engineered from recycled wood stretches from side to side and carries through to a twin-level floating center console that extends into the rear of the cabin.

This expansive ‘T-shaped’ panel houses the passenger information display system seamlessly disguised by the flush touch screen control surfaces and a navigation screen that can be concealed by a powered door.

Looks like the perfect car for Baba Fett.

I want one. I need one. I gotta have one. Sell it to me now.

  • When the Mk 8 came out I was hooked, and even found a mint condition one to purchase. But, NOW, my Lord Jesus get me a MKR. Everything about the car is stunning, and looks like worth the wait.

The Licoln MKR is amazing I saw it first in a magazine. I had to look at more pics of it. This is a car i need to have. Does anyone know when it comes out? and how much it will cost?

“Awesome” is not a word readily found within my vocabulary but it suffices to describe my reaction to the Lincoln MKR Concept model. I currently drive a 1997 Lincoln Mark VIII and love the car. Even though it is now almost 12 years old it continues to turn heads with its black on black on chrome wheels.

However, though I’m sure I couldn’t afford an MKR right now, I would be willing to go into hock for, not a car like this but, this car! – I mean look at it! Everything from the striking large grille and squinting wise headlights to its stance, its lines, to its beautiful back end and gleaming wheels – it is poetry in motion and, in fact, looks like it’s moving when it is standing still. I would so love to see this car become more than a concept but a built reality. The interior is truly a work of art in lines that stretch and curve and highlight. From the pictures I already know what it feels like to sit in this car. Wow!
