I want this. The 300 mile battery pack is long enough to get me anywhere I routinely go. If I need more range, I'll just throw the good old honda generator in the trunk.

as much fun as we had in those go-karts... can you imagine that in a larger package? Both of their offerings sounds like they would be quite fun to drive...

I'm a big fan of Tesla and what they're doing. I've always defended their choice to do the roadster first as a good move. I'm also stoked on the idea of a Tesla plant down here in SoCal. I'd seriously consider chasing down a job with those guys if they do set up shop.

I'm not surprised they're sold old through October. Demand was never their issue, delivering on orders was.

What's their current production output/month?
(that's a real question, I'm curious)

Also: the linked Fortune article is pretty interesting. Very typical for innovative development companies to go through a difficult growing phase between development and actually producing something.

Not to defend Tesla too much, but I was down at their LA store a few weeks back and they had 11 Roadsters, nine of which had signs on them reading, "Customer Car -- do not touch." And Musk told us today that the Roadster is sold out through October.

Ah...so that explains the 7-seater thing.

Cool stuff, but Tesla really needs to start shipping more cars to shed the whole vaporwear stigma.

Having said that, I did see one a few weeks ago parked Down On The Street here in LA.
