Porsche has updated the Panamera line with the Panamera GTS, which sits above the 4/4S models and below the Turbo models in performance and pricing.  Porsche says that GTS stands for Gran Turismo Sport and finds it’s beginning on the historic 1963 904 Carrera GTS.  The Panamera GTS has been lowered by 10mm and features air suspension with the standard Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM).  To differentiate the Panamera GTS in the looks department, Porsche has given it a unique front fascia with black headlights, black rocker panels, and an updated rear area.  The interior has been updated with leather and Alcantara surfaces exclusive to the GTS.

Power for the Panamera GTS comes from a modified 4.8-liter V8 engine which deliveres 430 hp at 6,700 rpm, which is a bump of 30 hp over the Panamera 4/4S model.   Torque has also been increased from 369lb-ft to 384lb-ft.   Power gets to all four wheels by way of a PDK transmission which allows the Panamera GTS to sprint to 100 km/h (62 mph) in under 4.5 seconds and onwards to a top speed of 179 mph.

The PASM suspension has been designed to be firmer, making the Panamera GTS more agile than the 4/4S models, while the rear axle track width has been increased by 10mm overall.  The braking system on the Panamera GTS comes straight off the Panamera Turbo.

On paper, this looks like one hell of a fun package and we can’t wait to drive one.  The Panamera GTS goes on sale in February 2012 with a price tag of 116.716 €.
