I recently tested the 2025 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali Ultimate, which I think is one of the finest 1500 series luxury trucks on-sale today. Knowing full well that there is market for luxury trucks in the heavy-duty class as well, GMC has introduced the 2025 Sierra 2500 Denali Ultimate.
The 2500 takes everything that is great about the 1500 series Sierra Denali Ultimate and scales it up for heavy-duty use. Under the hood of this beast is a 6.6-liter Duramax turbo diesel engine, which makes 470 horsepower. Of course, in a truck like this, torque is king. The 2500 Sierra Denali Ultimate delivers a ground-twisting 975 lb-ft of torque. In this configuration, the 2500 Sierra Denali Ultimate will tow up to 21,900 pounds, with a maximum fifth-wheel rating of up to 22,430 pounds. Maximum payload is 4,178 pounds.

While all the great features of the 1500 carry over to this 2500 version of the GMC Sierra Denali, the price tag gets a corresponding bump to its additional capabilities. Price as-tested of this 2500 GMC Sierra Denali Ultimate is $96,830. I still think the 1500 version of this truck is the best on the market today, but there are still some compromises with the 2500 version that Ford and Ram seem to have solved for. It is still an incredibly capable truck, and worth looking at for anyone considering a luxury HD pickup.
