It’s been a rainy last few weeks but I was fortunate enough to drive what’s likely the last Hemi-powered press car I’ll ever drive. This is the “Last Call” 2025 Dodge Durango R/T 20th Anniversary Editon, powered by the 5.7 Hemi we all have come to know and love. The SUVs I drove for the 3 weeks leading up to this were all tech-laden 4-cylinder, three-rows.
This Durango was a nice reminder that you don’t need a bunch of fancy tech to have a good driving experience. Yeah, it’s old. That’s ok. Everything on it works without any hiccups, it’s incredibly comfortable, and it puts a smile on your face every single time you get on the accelerator.
The buttons make me happy. The 20th Anniversary Durango gets 345 badging, 20-inch wheels finished in Brass Monkey, 345 embroidery on the seats, Brembo brakes, active exhaust, and an 8,700lb towing capacity. The Durango V8 has never been cutting edge, but it’s familiar. It’s never tried to be anything more than it is – A great American muscle car in 3-row, family hauler form.
