The wait is over to catch a glimpse of Audi’s new LMP1 Le Mans Prototype named the R18 e-tron quattro. At an event in Munich, Audi unveiled the new racer which will make its debut on May 5th in the 6-hour World Endurance Championship (WEC) race at Spa-Francorchamps and onward to the 24 Hours of Le Mans on June 16/17. With this new racer, Audi has united two technologies they are testing for use on production cars: e-tron and quattro.

Ride along with Alex Wurz in the new Toyota TS030 LMP1 Prototype from the January test session at the Paul Ricard circuit in France. Powered by a 3.4-liter V8 engine and hybrid system, the Toyota TS030 is expected to make its debut at the six-hour WEC race at Spa in May.
After quite a long absence from the Prototype class at Le Mans, Porsche has announced today that they intend to return to Le Mans in 2014 with a works-run LMP1 car. No further details are known about their new race car but we will keep you updated as the story develops. If you are as obsessed with anything Le Mans related like we are, you have probably heard about Audi’s award winning documentary, Truth in 24. This documentary was produced by NFL Films and follows the Audi Motorsport team as they chase the checkered flag at the 2008 24 Hours of Le Mans. If you missed it on ESPN last week, Audi has good news for you by way of a free iTunes download. This film is a must see for ANYONE who is even remotely interested in racing, and we promise there are parts that will leave you with goosebumps.
