Toyota pulled the covers off the all-new fourth-generation Prius last night in Las Vegas. Toyota promises the new Prius will deliver ten percent better fuel economy on the core models, while an even more efficient ‘Eco’ model is to follow soon.
The fourth-generation Toyota Prius gets its boost in efficiency from lighter hybrid components, higher-energy density in the batteries, and an ICE that delivers over 40% thermal efficiency. Other highlights include a larger passenger cabin, more cargo room, a lower center of gravity and an improved suspension package. The Prius will also be one of Toyota’s first U.S. models with Toyota Safety Sense. TSS consists of pre-collision braking, lane departure alert and correction system, radar cruise control, and automatic high beams.
The fourth-generation Toyota Prius will hit showrooms in the first quarter of 2016.
